An Open Letter to Mothers

Updated: Sep 2, 2019

Dear Mom,

You are strong! You are compassionate! You are loving! Most importantly, you ARE human! After having children, mothers experience multitudes of different emotions such as

sadness, resentment, failure, exhaustion, and bitterness. I used to succumb to these emotions but I learned to redirect my energy elsewhere. I began to increase activities in my social life. I no longer hold myself captive in my own mind. Always remember; however, if you are having thoughts of harming yourself or your child, it is imperative that you reach out for help immediately!

There are many goals I wish to accomplish, and I use my son as the driving force of my life in order for me to accomplish these objectives. Children learn by example,

and it is important that I not set the example of giving up on my dreams for my child.

One goal I have always had was to start a blog. I've longed for being a blogger, but I never actually put the idea into action. I put my foot down and told myself to stop procrastinating. Essentially, I wanted a sanctuary (online diary if you will) where I could open up about my own life experiences. There are other projects in the works, but creating this blog was one of the foremost ones.

If there's one thing I want you to take from this blog, it's this: Get out there and do those things you have always wanted to do. Nothing is stopping you but YOU! It does not matter what it is. Become an entrepreneur. Establish a non- profit organization. Have a girls' night out. Go do your nails or go to the spa. Never limit yourself. You have a life outside of your child, and it is perfectly fine to feel that way.

Love,

Ebony
